About Merthyr College

Merthyr Tydfil College became part of the University of Glamorgan Group in May 2006, as part of the University’s plans to expand its presence in the Valleys and offer educational opportunities across South Wales.

Merthyr Tydfil College offers full-time and part-time courses, from basic level to higher education. The wide choice on offer means students are prepared for diverse areas of employment. Over 3,000 students currently study at the College and it works closely with other education and training providers in the area to provide learning based on experience and interest. There’s no age limit for students and flexible learning means all lifestyles are catered for.

Merthyr campus facilities

The College offers a variety of facilties for students – and in some cases, members of the general community.

  • Students are welcome to come to the Cafeteria for a snack and a cuppa.
  • The Eclipz Hair & Beauty Salon offers good value hair and beauty treatments, using the latest products. This facility is open to students and members of the public alike.
  • Theatr Myfanwy Theatre hosts several varied productions every year – some student work, some professional drama groups.
  • Of course, there are also sports facilities both on and off campus for students.

  • Moodle is a virtual learning environment and is designed to be used by all post 16 training and education partners in the county of Merthyr Tydfil. It is supported by the University of Glamorgan and Merthyr Tydfil College.
